How Ramandeep Kaur Start journey in the world of fashion and modelling.
My journey began pretty early I must say, as a kid, I loved and just loved dressing up and always seeking attention wanting to be noticed. I never lost a single opportunity to participate in any fashion show whether in school or college, and this passion of mine led me from one point to another and kept making in-roads for me till I made it in the professional world.
Q: Share with us the experiences you have had in the Bollywood industry? How has it helped you grow as an artist?
My experience in the Bollywood industry has pretty much been a learning one in terms of professionalism, self-presentation, PR skills as it’s a different world, and yes a lot of guidance from experienced co-stars in terms of facing the camera and acting because I’ve done Hindi cinema, Telegu Cinema, and Punjabi cinema and all are pretty different from each other in the way they function. Why I’m saying this is because I come from a theatre background, which is a different world and I grew there a lot as an actor, it’s a no-retake world. I did a year of theatre with Nadira Babbar Ji. That’s where my roots of acting come from.
Q: How do you think the pandemic has impacted the industry as a whole? What prospects do you see post-2021?
It certainly did impact in a big way with shootings coming to halt and cinema theatres shut down, I mean huge losses, however, there was a boost in the digital world on the other hand but I would say that on the whole it did have a large downfall and I believe we will rise again soon. My future projects include a Punjabi and a Telugu film lined up and hoping to see them soon on the large screen.
Q: What has been your best break? Please share some interesting stories with us as a professional model.
Still waiting for the best break in this industry, however so far I would mention when I got my first professional assignment and was paid for it was my proudest and happiest moment, I still remember it, like it was yesterday. And I have lots and lots of stories from my initial days but I’d just like to say that I made some really good and genuine friends here.
Q:What will your message be to young ladies, who want to enter the fashion industry as an artist but are not getting any support?
Well, my ultimate message to the ladies out there is “practice makes you perfect”, I mean to say is that with your dreams and passion that you carry what is most important is the preparation and you have to prepare very well so that you don’t go unnoticed and you will have unimaginable confidence in you which even you wouldn’t know you had because years of preparation has brought me to where I am today. And when you prepare your skill well, you will be rewarded well with work and your audience. If you are well skilled and confident you don’t need support, your greatest support is you and God, of course.
Q: Tell us something about your hobbies. What leisure activities do you like to indulge in when you’re not working.
Hahahahah!!! My hobbies? I just have a single hobby and that is eating and eating. I’m a Punjabi sardarni. I love my food. I love my parathas, having said that when I’m not working to balance my eating out I increase my workouts. I double them up to stay and look fit, I dance a lot; I love dancing, I also practice kathak. Amongst the other things that I do are binge-watching and I like to catch up on all the news and updates on Bollywood, I like to stay updated. Sometimes, I indulge myself in learning something new if it comes to my attention. It could be anything, especially if I’ve seen an actress do something new in a film, I like to practice or learn that too.
Q: Being a renowned personality, what is your take on Social Media overload? How do you find your me-time amidst all the social media chatter?
I agree that social media is overloaded, my take on it is that it will be a much better place when it’s used with responsibility and I also understand it’s a living or bread & butter for a lot of artists & people and I like it too, but it has to be used responsibly. However, I’ve made a very simple solution for myself for it, when I need my me-time and that is- shutting off my phone’s internet for a while when I have to cut out distractions and of course, this practice needs patience, luckily I have it.
